Ending on a high, Edwards clinches 2nd in the last round at Monza
Published December 9, 2010 in Porsche Cup | Sean Edwards

‘Team Abu Dhabi by tolimit‘ driver, Sean Edwards, clinched second place at the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season finale in Monza as teammate Sascha Maassen clawed back four places to end 12th, leaving the outfit in fourth overall for the 2010 Team Championship.

Starting the day’s action in fifth from the grid, Edwards put in a sterling display on the 5.7 kms long ‘Autodromo Nazionale’ to clinch his second podium finish in as many races. “The car was really great in qualifying. Position two or three would have easily been possible. Unfortunately, I was held up in both of my fast laps,” said the enigmatic Briton.

Spa-tacular’ Edwards clinches solid Belgium win with pole and fastest lap too!
Published September 10, 2010 in Porsche Cup | Sean Edwards

Team Abu Dhabi by tolimit’ driver, Sean Edwards of Great Britain, snatched his first official Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup race win at Belgium’s Spa-Francorchamps, as veteran team-mate Sascha Maassen was forced to retire with technical failure. The team’s Abu Dhabi driver, Khaled Al Qubaisi, put in a consistent performance on the demanding track to finish 23rd.

Edwards left no doubt about his target for the weekend after a sterling qualifying run saw the 23-year-old set his Porsche 911 GT3 Cup in Abu Dhabi livery on pole: “It was not a perfect lap, but enough for pole.”

Team Abu Dhabi by tolimit back on the podium with Sean Edwards
Published August 1, 2010 in Porsche Cup | Sean Edwards

It was a successful weekend for the Lohne-based team as Sean Edwards finished second at the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup race in Budapest. In addition, Sascha Maassen caught up two positions to finish ninth and Khaled Al Qubaisi finished 14th, notching up three championship points due to a guest starter in front of him.

The race at the 4.381kms Hungaroring was dominated by a severe race accident causing a long safety car phase, with six cars retiring from competition. With outside temperatures of 30 degrees and track temperatures of 40 degrees, all remaining drivers had to stand sauna-like conditions in the cars during the slow laps.

A weekend full of incidents for Team Abu Dhabi by Tolimit
Published July 26, 2010 in Porsche Cup | Sean Edwards

‘Team Abu Dhabi by tolimit‘ experienced an exciting, tentative, but in the end disappointing weekend at the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup race in Hockenheim. The positions 12, 19 and 21 for Sascha Maassen, Sean Edwards and Khaled Al Qubaisi respectively, didn’t shed the real light on the ups and downs of the race.

During qualifying on Saturday, the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup drivers put in the most thrilling qualifying session of the season so far, which saw the pole setter and the 21st position separated only by less than a second. Former Porsche works driver Sascha Maassen again fought with finding the optimal tyre temperature: “The sprint format of the Supercup races is simply not to be compared with the endurance racing competitions during the past years. I am still stuck in a learning process and hope that I can proceed as soon as possible. Position 18 was all I was able to achieve in the end, although I was only 7 tenths of a second behind the pole sitter.”

Dissapointment for Edwards at Silverstone, relegated to the back after qualifying…
Published July 22, 2010 in Porsche Cup | Sean Edwards

Coming off the back of two successful race weekends in Spain and Germany, ‘Team Abu Dhabi by tolimit‘could not continue its good run of form at the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup race in Silverstone after Sean Edwards, Sascha Maassen and Khaled Al Qubaisi finished 12th, 13th and 19th respectively.

Abu Dhabi’s Emirati star, Al Qubaisi, was the first casualty of the weekend, after a spin out in Friday’s practice meant the tolimit crew had to work through the night to get the car back into racing condition.
